| B.W. Wells Heritage Day March 28, 2004 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our first annual Heritage Day was a huge success bringing in over 150 visitors in just four hours. People came from Greenville and Greensboro North Carolina to attend. The vast majority were from Wake Forest and Raleigh. A few were Association members, and the rest were potential members. All hikes offered recieved ample attendence, and many people toured on their own. The base amount of games, displays and activities offered were enjoyed by most if not all. Next year we can definitely expand. |

| Ken Moore leading the first of his barrage of B.W. Wells History hikes. Note self guided tourists in the background. Next year all tour guides will be required to wear a hawaiin print shirt =) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lucy LaFitte starting the popular wildflower hike. Two were scheduled and a third was offered as part of encore presentation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hugh's Geology exhibit was almost as popular as his hike was. He too gave three total hikes, each an hour or more long! There was a waiting line for the second one, and the third was another encore presentation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This photograph was the last time any of these people were seen on Rock Cliff Farm. What began as a hike to Zeagle's Rock, turned into a tour of everything else as well. Go Alice! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So I actually had to get out of my chair and lead five hikes down to the Rock. Every tour picked up a few people at the rock, and left a few behind on the return trip. I, like Hughen and Ken, barely had time to get a drink of water, as there was another group waiting and ready to go! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Education Committee, Jimmy and Rita, held shop at the house entrance. All childrens activities began here, note the picnic basket chock full of 3-musketeers bars, ah to be young again. And the mystery plant (DAPHNE) fooled everyone, even those convinced it was a Lilac! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Keep following the clues to the candy! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Colleen had the other fun job, running the giant NC state wildflower game. Alice and Lucy combined to get a perferct score, but several others did well, including some kids who out-smarted their parents! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Jayme posing with her work, the B.W. Wells Association displays and table. Three book orders were taken and MANY membership brochures were handed out. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Wake Forest Garden Club and Wake County Master Gardener Volunteers had some beautiful exhibits as well. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And Margaret ate the....I mean, RAN the refreshment table. Her brownies ranked up there with her Persimmon Pudding from the annual meeting. The donations accepted for refreshments far surpassed the cost. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What a roving ranger does when they weren't roving or parking cars. The parking situation was much better than expected. At most we may have had 30 cars along the roads and parking area. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| See you next year! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
