Falls Lake Wildathon
2001 Report
The results are in!  My first Wildathon for the New Hope Audubon Society was a success.  I participated in this 24 hour count of all flora and fauna at various areas at Falls Lake.  Woodpecker Ridge and Brickhouse Road Waterfowl Impoundments were the two main areas covered.

With a cloudy and cool day butterflies and dragonflies were scarce, resulting in low total finds.  The weather was good for reptiles, amphibians and birds.  I counted 84 different species of birds, which leads all other volunteer groups that participated in the event.

Other good finds were a brown phase Eastern Hognose Snake at Sandling Beach, a pair of Redbelly Water Snakes mating at Brickhouse Road and the six (!) species of fireflies found at Brickhouse.  Thanks to everyone who donated, we really made a difference.
